Public Meeting - Thursday, September 30, 2004

Public Meeting Three took place from 7:00 pm until 9:00 pm at the main campus of Florida International University (FIU) in the International Pavilion of the School of Engineering. The goal of this second series of meetings (Public Meetings 3 and 4) was to provide an update on the status of the project, report on the accomplishments to date, introduce examples of test scenarios and to introduce the project to anyone unfamiliar with the SMDWSP.

The Keith and Schnars Team, along with representatives from the Miami-Dade County Department of Planning and Zoning (MDCDPZ), the South Florida Regional Planning Council (SFRPC) and the South Florida Water Management District (SFWMD), presented information with the aid of informational boards, project Fact Sheets and Newsletters (in English and Spanish) and a brief PowerPoint presentation. Project experts spoke one-on-one with members of the public, answering specific questions and discussing the importance of the Study.

The public had an opportunity to make comments and fill out a questionnaire (in English and Spanish) regarding the SMDWSP. Translators were on hand for individuals who spoke Spanish.

Approximately 62 people attended the meeting.
